Short History

The SmartTel Mobile Banking service was launched in 2000 and is the first Mobile Banking service on the Romanian market.

SmartTel is a dynamic service that thrives due to its constant evolution, improving its services with the latest innovations, always complying with the demands of its customers and keeping them updated with new technologies and products.

In July 2000, the service was commercially implemented for Raiffeisen Bank and BCR customers for card, credit and current accounts.

Company Identity

SmartTel is the first Romanian mobile banking provider and one of the largest suppliers of VAS services for the banking industry, with over 15 years’ experience in VAS services distribution, integration and support for the largest banks from Romania.

SmartTel is part of Universal Card Systems Group, operating on the Romanian telecom and software market since 1996. The company works in collaboration with the group entities in order to obtain an optimized cost / quality ratio for its solutions.

In more than 16 years on the market, SmartTel has diversified its portfolio from a simple mobile banking solution to new and complex services such as Bulk SMS Campaigns, One Time Password and the M-Wallet.
